वैशाख मास
वैशाख हिन्दू धर्म का द्वितीय महीना है। विशाखा नक्षत्रयुक्त पूर्णिमा होने के कारण इसका नाम वैशाख पड़ा | (उत्तर भारत हिन्दू पञ्चाङ्ग के अनुसार वैशाख मास प्रारंभ हो चुका है)। वैशाख मास पुण्यकारी, श्रीविष्णु को अत्यंत प्रिय मास है | वैशाख मास का एक नाम माधव मास भी है | इस मास के देवता “मधुसूदन” हैं | मधु दैत्य का वध होने के कारण उन्हें मधुसूदन कहते हैं। विष्णुसहस्त्रनाम “दुःस्वप्ने स्मर गोविन्दं संकटे मधुसूदनम्” के अनुसार किसी भी प्रकार के संकट में श्रीविष्णु के नाम मधुसूदन का स्मरण करना चाहिए | स्कन्दपुराणम्, वैष्णवखण्ड के अनुसार न माधवसमो मासो न कृतेन युगं समम्। न च वेदसमं शास्त्रं न तीर्थं गंगया समम्।।
