कब कहां और कैसे सोना चाहिए

हमारे शास्त्रों में मुनष्य की दिन चर्या के बारे में सुबह से लेकर रात में सोते तक के नियमों का वर्णन मिलता है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार रात में जब दिनभर की थकान को दूर करने के लिए हम शयन करने जा रहे होते हैं तो कब और कैसे शयन करना चाहिए, कहां शयन करना चाहिए और कहां नहीं। यशस्वी, निरोग और दीर्घायु जीवन के लिए सोते समय इन बातों का विशेष रूप से ध्यान रखना चाहिए।

1- मनुस्मृति में कहा गया है कि सूने तथा निर्जन घर में अकेला नहीं सोना चाहिए। देव मन्दिर गर्भगृह और श्मशान भूमि में भी नहीं सोना चाहिए।

2- विष्णुस्मृति के अनुसार, किसी सोए हुए मनुष्य को भूलकर भी अचानक नहीं जगाना चाहिए।

3- चाणक्यनीति के अनुसार, विद्यार्थी, नौकर और द्वारपाल यदि ये अधिक समय से सोए हुए हों तो इन्हें समय पर तुरंत जगा देना चाहिए।

4- देवीभागवत एवं पद्मपुराण में कहा गया है कि- स्वस्थ मनुष्य को आयुरक्षा हेतु ब्रह्ममुहुर्त में उठना चाहिए। बिल्कुल अंधेरे कमरे में नहीं सोना चाहिए।

5- अत्रिस्मृति के अनुसार, भीगे (गीले) पैर कभी नहीं सोना चाहिए। सूखे पैर सोने से लक्ष्मी (धन) की प्राप्ति होती है।

6- महाभारत के अनुसार, टूटी खाट पर तथा जूठे मुंह भूलकर भी नहीं सोना चाहिए।

7- गौतम धर्म सूत्र के अनुसार, “नग्न होकर/निर्वस्त्र” नहीं सोना चाहिए।

8- आचारमय़ूख में लिखा है कि- पूर्व दिशा की ओर सिर करके सोने से विद्या, पश्चिम की ओर सिर करके सोने से प्रबल चिन्ता, उत्तर की ओर सिर करके सोने से हानि व मृत्यु तथा दक्षिण की ओर सिर करके सोने से धन व आयु की प्राप्ति होती है।

9- दिन में कभी नहीं सोना चाहिए। परन्तु ज्येष्ठ मास में दोपहर के समय 1 मुहूर्त (48 मिनट) के लिए सोया जा सकता है। (दिन में सोने से रोग घेरते हैं तथा आयु का क्षय होता है) ।

10- ब्रह्मवैवर्तपुराण के अनुसार, दिन में तथा सूर्योदय एवं सूर्यास्त के समय सोने वाला रोगी और दरिद्र हो जाता है।

11- सूर्यास्त के एक प्रहर (लगभग 3 घण्टे) के बाद ही शयन करना चाहिए।

12- बायीं करवट सोना स्वास्थ्य के लिये लाभकारी है।

13- दक्षिण दिशा में पांव करके कभी नहीं सोना चाहिए। यम और दुष्ट देवों का निवास रहता है। कान में हवा भरती है। मस्तिष्क में रक्त का संचार कम को जाता है, स्मृति- भ्रंश, मौत व असंख्य बीमारियां होती है।

14- हृदय पर हाथ रखकर, छत के पाट या बीम के नीचे और पांव पर पांव चढ़ाकर निद्रा न लें।

15- शय्या (पलंग) पर बैठकर खाना-पीना बहुत अशुभ होता है एवं सोते सोते पढ़ने से नेत्र ज्योति घटती है, इसलिए ऐसा नहीं करना चाहिए।

16- माथे पर तिलक लगाकर कभी नहीं सोना चाहिए।

When, where and how should one sleep?

In our scriptures, rules regarding human daily routine from morning till sleeping at night are described. According to the scriptures, when we are going to sleep at night to get rid of the tiredness of the day, then when and how should we sleep, where should we sleep and where not. To live a successful, healthy and long life, these things should be especially kept in mind while sleeping.

1- It is said in Manusmriti that one should not sleep alone in a deserted and deserted house. One should not sleep in the temple, sanctum sanctorum or even in the cremation ground.

2- According to Vishnusmriti, a sleeping person should not be woken up suddenly even by mistake.

3- According to Chanakyaniti, if students, servants and gatekeepers are sleeping for a long time, they should be woken up immediately on time.

4- It is said in Devi Bhagwat and Padmapuran that a healthy person should wake up in Brahmamuhurta for health protection. One should not sleep in a completely dark room.

5- According to Atrismriti, one should never sleep with wet feet. Sleeping with dry feet leads to the attainment of Lakshmi (wealth).

6- According to Mahabharata, one should not sleep on a broken cot and with a false face.

7- According to Gautam Dharma Sutra, one should not sleep “naked/undressed”.

8- It is written in Acharamayukh that sleeping with head towards east brings knowledge, sleeping with head towards west brings strong worries, sleeping with head towards north brings harm and death and sleeping with head towards south brings wealth and life. Attainment is achieved.
