स्वास्थ्य प्रदायक स्नान विधि

स्नान सूर्योदय से पहले ही करना चाहिए।

मालिश के आधे घंटे बाद शरीर को रगड़-रगड़ कर स्नान करें।

स्नान करते समय स्तोत्रपाठ, कीर्तन या भगवन्नाम का जप करना चाहिए।

स्नान करते समय पहले सिर पर पानी डालें फिर पूरे शरीर पर, ताकि सिर आदि शरीर के ऊपरी भागों की गर्मी पैरों से निकल जाय।

‘गले से नीचे के शारीरिक भाग पर गर्म (गुनगुने) पानी से स्नान करने से शक्ति बढ़ती है, किंतु सिर पर गर्म पानी डालकर स्नान करने से बालों तथा नेत्रशक्ति को हानि पहुँचती है।’ (बृहद वाग्भट, सूत्रस्थानः अ.3)

स्नान करते समय मुँह में पानी भरकर आँखों को पानी से भरे पात्र में डुबायें एवं उसी में थोड़ी देर पलके झपकायें या पटपटायें अथवा आँखों पर पानी के छींटे मारें। इससे नेत्रज्योति बढ़ती है।

निर्वस्त्र होकर स्नान करना निर्लज्जता का द्योतक है तथा इससे जल देवता का निरादर भी होता है।

किसी नदी, सरोवर, सागर, कुएँ, बावड़ी आदि में स्नान करते समय जल में ही मल-मूत्र का विसर्जन नही करना चाहिए।

प्रतिदिन स्नान करने से पूर्व दोनों पैरों के अँगूठों में सरसों का शुद्ध तेल लगाने से वृद्धावस्था तक नेत्रों की ज्योति कमजोर नहीं होती।

स्नान के प्रकारः मन:शुद्धि के लिए-

ब्रह्म स्नानः ब्राह्ममुहूर्त में ब्रह्म-परमात्मा का चिंतन करते हुए।

देव स्नानः सूर्योदय के पूर्व देवनदियों में अथवा उनका स्मरण करते हुए।

समयानुसार स्नानः

ऋषि स्नानः आकाश में तारे दिखते हों तब ब्राह्ममुहूर्त में।

मानव स्नानः सूर्योदय के पूर्व।

दानव स्नानः सूर्योदय के बाद चाय-नाश्ता लेकर 8-9 बजे।

करने योग्य स्नानः ब्रह्म स्नान एवं देव स्नान युक्त ऋषि स्नान।

रात्रि में या संध्या के समय स्नान न करें। ग्रहण के समय रात्रि में भी स्नान कर सकते हैं। स्नान के पश्चात तेल आदि की मालिश न करें। भीगे कपड़े न पहनें।। (महाभारत, अनुशासन पर्व)

दौड़कर आने पर, पसीना निकलने पर तथा भोजन के तुरंत पहले तथा बाद में स्नान नहीं करना चाहिए। भोजन के तीन घंटे बाद स्नान कर सकते हैं।

बुखार में एवं अतिसार (बार-बार दस्त लगने की बीमारी) में स्नान नहीं करना चाहिए।

दूसरे के वस्त्र, तौलिये, साबुन और कंघी का उपयोग नहीं करना चाहिए।

त्वचा की स्वच्छता के लिए साबुन की जगह उबटन का प्रयोग करें।

स्नान करते समय कान में पानी न घुसे इसका ध्यान रखना चाहिए।

स्नान के बाद मोटे तौलिये से पूरे शरीर को खूब रगड़-रगड़ कर पोंछना चाहिए तथा साफ, सूती, धुले हुए वस्त्र पहनने चाहिए। टेरीकॉट, पॉलिएस्टर आदि सिंथेटिक वस्त्र स्वास्थ्य के लिए अच्छे नहीं हैं।

जिस कपड़े को पहन कर शौच जायें या हजामत बनवायें, उसे अवश्य धो डालें और स्नान कर लें।
