१] सद्धर्म, सत्संग-श्रवण, सत्पुरुषों की सेवा, संतो के दर्शन, भगवान का पूजन आदि सत्कर्मों में संलग्न रहना और सुपात्र हेतु दान देने में अनुराग होना – ये सब बातें चतुर्मास में अत्यंत कल्याणकारी बतायी गयी हैं |
२] इन दिनों भूमि पर (चटाई, कम्बल, चादर आदि बिछाकर) शयन, ब्रह्मचर्य-पालन, उपवास, मौन, ध्यान, जप, दान-पुण्य आदि विशेष लाभप्रद होते हैं |
३] जल में आँवला मिलाकर स्नान करने से पुरुष तेजवान होता है और नित्य महान पुण्य प्राप्त होता है |
४] चतुर्मास में ताँबे के पात्र में भोजन विशेष रूप से त्याज्य है | इन दिनों धातु के पात्रों का त्याग कर पलाश के पत्तों पर भोजन करनेवाला ब्रह्मभाव को प्राप्त होता है, ऐसा शास्त्र में कहा गया है |
५] इन दिनों में परनिंदा का विशेष रूप से त्याग करें |
६] चतुर्मास में शादी-विवाह और सकाम यज्ञ नहीं होते | ये चार मास साधन-भजन करने के हैं |
७] पद्म पुराण में आता है कि जो व्यक्ति भगवान के शयन करने पर विशेषत: उनके नाम का कीर्तन और जप करता है,  उसे कोटि गुना फल मिलता है |
८] चतुर्मास में भगवान विष्णु के सामने खड़े होकर ‘पुरुष सूक्त’ का पाठ करने से बुद्धिशक्ति बढ़ती है |
