विशेष – प्रतिपदा को कुष्मांड (कुम्हड़ा, पेठा) न खायें क्योंकि यह धन का नाश करनेवाला है। (ब्रह्मवैवर्त पुराण, ब्रह्म खंडः 27.29-34)

शिवजी के त्रिशूल एवं डमरू का संदेश

भगवान शिव का स्वरूप देखने में बड़ा ही प्रतीकात्मक और संदेशप्रद है। भगवान शिव के हाथों में त्रिशूल दैहिक, दैविक और भौतिक तीनों तापों का प्रतीक है। भगवान शिव के हाथों में केवल त्रिशूल ही नहीं है अपितु जो त्रिशूल है, उसमें भी डमरू बँधा हुआ है। त्रिशूल वेदना का तो डमरू आनंद का प्रतीक है। जीवन ऐसा ही है, यहाँ वेदना तो है ही मगर आनंद भी कम नहीं है।
आज आदमी अपनी वेदनाओं से ही इतना ग्रस्त रहता है कि आनंद उसके लिए एक काल्पनिक वस्तु मात्र रह गई है। दु:खों से ग्रस्त होना यह अपने हाथों में नहीं मगर दुःखों से त्रस्त होना यह अवश्य अपने हाथों में है। भगवान शिव के हाथों में त्रिशूल और उसके ऊपर लगा डमरू हमें इस बात का संदेश देते हैं कि भले ही त्रिशूल रुपी तीनों तापों से तुम ग्रस्त हों मगर डमरू रुपी आनंद भी साथ होगा तो फिर नीरस जीवन भी उमंग और उत्साह से भर जाएग..।।

देवी गंगा और भगवान् शिव

गंगा एक ही हैं, पर पौराणिक कथाओं को उनके प्रतीकों एवं संदर्भों में समझने की आवश्यकता है।
गंगा प्रकृति की परिवर्तनकारी शक्तियों का प्रतिनिधित्व करती हैं। पवित्रता की प्रतीक हैं, मानव-समुदाय की मुक्ति की आकांक्षा को, प्रतिविम्बित करती हैं।
भागीरथ-प्रयत्न से, वे स्वर्ग-लोक से धरती पर अवतरित होती हैं और उनके वेग को , शिव अपनी जटाओं में , शांत चित्त से सम्हालते हैं।
यहाँ गंगा लौकिक और शिव की जटाएं , आध्यात्मिक सत्य का प्रतिनिधित्व करती हैं।
शिव की जटाओं में लुप्त-सी होकर, वे शांत और पतली धार के रूप में निकलती हैं। धरती की प्यास बुझाती हैं, पतितों का उद्धार करती हैं।
संकेत यह कि भौतिकता, आध्यात्मिकता के आवरण से, परिष्कृत और परिमार्जित होती है।
गंगा , कहीं एक अप्सरा के रूप में वर्णित हैं, जो देव-लोक में विचरण करती हैं।
किसी स्थान पर, उन्हें आकाश-गंगा के रूप में , चिन्हित किया गया है। जो विष्णु के पद-प्रहार से, नदी के रूप में धरती पर अवतरित होती हैं।
किसी स्थान पर, उन्हें ब्रह्मा के कमंडल से निकली हुई माना गया है और किसी स्थान पर, उन्हें पर्वत-पुत्री एवं शिव की पत्नी भी बताया गया है।
हिन्दू धर्म में पुनर्जन्म, कर्म के सिद्धांत एवं वरदान-शाप के महत्व को, बार-बार रेखांकित किया गया है।
सगर के सौ पुत्र, कपिल मुनि के क्रोध एवं शाप से भस्म हो गए। उनके उद्धार के लिए गंगा , स्वर्ग से धरती पर आयीं।
पुनः यही कार्य, उन्होंने उन आठ वसुओं के लिए किया, जो वशिष्ठ मुनि के शाप से स्वर्ग-च्युत हुए और उन्हें मनुष्य-योनि में जन्म लेना पड़ा।
शांतनु के साथ विवाह कर, उन्होंने आठ वसुओं को पुत्र-रूप में जन्म दिया और उनमें से सात को, तुरंत धारा में प्रवाहित कर, उन्हें शीघ्र मुक्ति प्रदान की।
आठवें वसु का अपराध गंभीर था और दीर्घ जीवन के रूप में, उन्हें लम्बी यातनाएं झेलनी थी। वे ही कालांतर में , भीष्म के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुए।
शिव को गंगाधर कहा जाता है (क्योंकि , उनके सिर पर पवित्र नदी गंगा है)। लेकिन, गंगा शिव की पत्नी नहीं हैं!
ऐसा माना जाता है कि, गंगा के मन में शिव के लिए एक कोमल भावना थी। लेकिन, शिव इस बात को लेकर बहुत स्पष्ट थे कि , यदि वह पुनर्विवाह करेंगे , तो लड़की सती का अवतार होनी चाहिए। यह जानकर गंगा को बहुत दुःख हुआ।

माल बिकता नहीं हो तो..

दुकान है माल पड़ा रहता है | बिकता भी नहीं , पड़ा रहता है तो जो माल पड़ा रहता है , उसे दुकान में उत्तर और पश्चिम दिशा के बीच वायव्य कोण पड़ता है उधर रख दो | तो वायव्य दिशा यानी वायु भगवान् की दिशा है , तो माल वायु वेग से बिकेगा |
