NEW DELHI: In a significant boost to distance learner employability, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) successfully concluded a multi-city mega placement drive across six Regional Centres. Over 70 students and alumni from Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand secured roles in premier Fintech, IT, and BPO sectors during the four-day event ending February 15.
The drive, coordinated by the Campus Placement Cell (CPC) in collaboration with Regional Centres (RCs) in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Bijapur, and Dehradun, offered diverse roles including HR Generalist, Assistant Relationship Manager, and Sales Expert.
In Dehradun, the university partnered with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to connect learners with local industry leaders, while digital outreach in Bengaluru reached over 5,000 candidates for virtual and on-site interviews with firms like PolicyBazaar.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Uma Kanjilal lauded the initiative, stating that such pan-India efforts reinforce IGNOU’s mission of inclusive, career-oriented education. “By bridging employability gaps and creating impactful employment pathways, we are actively contributing to the nation’s professional growth,” she said. The university plans to sustain these industry linkages to ensure structured placement support for its vast learner base across India.
