Rajgir, Nalanda, Bihar | February 27, 2026; The Hebrew University of Jerusalem on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his address delivered in the Israeli Knesset (parliament). The university recently formalised a MoU with Nalanda University, underscoring the growing academic engagement between the two institutions. “The deep partnership between our nations is also reflected in the academic sphere,” the university noted.
The MoU follows substantive academic interactions between the two sides. In this regard, Prof. Guy Harpaz, Vice President for International Affairs at the Hebrew University, along with his team had a meeting with Nalanda University Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi and faculty members. Earlier this month, Prof. Eviatar Shulman, Director of Buddhist Studies and Head of the Institute for the Study of History, Religion and Classics at the Hebrew University, also delivered a distinguished lecture at Nalanda University.
The MoU between Nalanda University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem establishes a structured framework for faculty and student exchanges. The agreement aims to foster collaborative research, integrated teaching, academic mobility, and deeper civilizational dialogue between the two nations.
Nalanda University Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi said, “Our MoU with Hebrew University will strengthen the ancient bonds between the two countries, create better research opportunities and provide new direction to students’ research skills, innovation capabilities, and career prospects.”
Nalanda University looks forward to working closely with Hebrew University to advance research excellence, promote intercultural understanding, and build enduring academic bridges between our two nations.
Nalanda University Hosts Tripura Governor
Earlier on February 15, 2026: Nalanda University welcomed the Hon’ble Governor of Tripura, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, who visited the campus along with his spouse. He was received by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi and was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

During his visit, the Governor interacted with faculty members and students, expressing interest in discussions on Buddhism, Vedic traditions, maritime history, and India’s civilisational linkages. Sharing insights from his public and administrative experience, he encouraged students to engage deeply with India’s intellectual and cultural heritage.
A guided tour of the University’s Net Zero sustainable campus was organised for the visiting dignitary. The Governor appreciated Nalanda University’s commitment to environmental sustainability, community-driven initiatives, and globally engaged learning.
The visit reflected the University’s continued engagement with constitutional authorities and reinforced its role as a centre for academic dialogue, sustainability, and promotion of India’s rich civilisational traditions.
