Strengthening Bonds: NU Signs Landmark MoUs with Indian, Russian Institutions

Rajgir, Nalanda, October 19, 2025: Nalanda University signed two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) this week, one with Jyot & Gitarth Ganga, Spiritual Research Institutes in Mumbai today, and another with Kalmyk State University of Russia.

The MoU with Jyot and Gitarth Ganga focuses on the preservation, compilation and publication of rare Jain manuscripts and other Indic works. The signing ceremony was held in Mumbai today, in the presence of Pujya Pāṇḍit Mahārāj Saheb Yugbhūṣaṇsūri Ji and Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

The MoU was signed by Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice Chancellor, Nalanda University, Jyot Trustee Dr. Bhaskar Shah, and Gitarth Ganga Trustee Nishit Zaveri. As a ‘Knowledge Partner’, Nalanda University will also take part in the upcoming Conclave on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family), reinforcing its mission of promoting intercultural dialogue and encouraging Indian knowledge systems.

Earlier this Friday, Nalanda University signed another MoU in hybrid mode with Kalmyk State University, Russia, to strengthen academic cooperation in Buddhist Studies, Oriental Languages and Cultural Research. The event was joined by Nalanda University Vice chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Nikhilesh Chandra Giri from Indian Embassy in Russia, Vinay Kumar, Minister of Education, Embassy of India, and was hosted by Professor Badma Katinovich Salaev, Rector of Kalmyk State University.

These twin collaborations highlights Nalanda University’s vibrant growth trajectory, bridging ancient wisdom with contemporary global scholarship and nurturing meaningful civilizational dialogues across borders.
