कार्तिक माहात्म्य
अध्याय–01

नैमिषारण्य तीर्थ में श्रीसूतजी ने अठ्ठासी हजार शौनकादि ऋषियों से कहा:–
‘अब मैं आपको कार्तिक मास की कथा विस्तारपूर्वक सुनाता हूँ, जिसका श्रवण करने से मनुष्य के सभी पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं और अन्त समय में वैकुण्ठ धाम की प्राप्ति होती है।’
सूतजी ने कहा–‘श्रीकृष्ण जी से अनुमति लेकर देवर्षि नारद के चले जाने के पश्चात सत्यभामा प्रसन्न होकर भगवान कृष्ण से बोली।
सत्यभामा ने कहा–‘हे प्रभु! मैं धन्य हुई, मेरा जन्म सफल हुआ, मुझ जैसी त्रौलोक्य सुन्दरी के जन्मदाता भी धन्य हैं, जो आपकी सोलह हजार स्त्रियों के बीच में आपकी परम प्यारी पत्नी बनी। मैंने आपके साथ नारद जी को वह कल्पवृक्ष आदिपुरुष विधिपूर्वक दान में दिया, परन्तु वही कल्पवृक्ष मेरे घर लहराया करता है। यह बात मृत्युलोक में किसी स्त्री को ज्ञात नहीं है।
हे त्रिलोकीनाथ! मैं आपसे कुछ पूछने की इच्छुक हूँ। आप मुझे कृपया कार्तिक माहात्म्य की कथा विस्तार पूर्वक सुनाइये जिसको सुनकर मेरा हित हो और जिसके करने से कल्पपर्यन्त भी आप मुझसे विमुख न हों।’
सूतजी आगे बोले–‘सत्यभामा के ऎसे वचन सुनकर श्रीकृष्ण ने हँसते हुए सत्यभामा का हाथ पकड़ा और अपने सेवकों को वहीं रूकने के लिए कहकर विलासयुक्त अपनी पत्नी को कल्पवृक्ष के नीचे ले गये फिर हंसकर बोले।
श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा–‘हे प्रिये! सोलह हजार रानियों में से तुम मुझे प्राणों के समान प्यारी हो। तुम्हारे लिए मैंने इन्द्र एवं देवताओं से विरोध किया था। हे कान्ते! जो बात तुमने मुझसे पूछी है, उसे सुनो।
एक दिन मैंने (श्रीकृष्ण) तुम्हारी (सत्यभामा) इच्छापूर्ति के लिए गरुड़ पर सवार होकर इन्द्रलोक जाकर कल्पवृक्ष माँगा। इन्द्र द्वारा मना किये जाने पर इन्द्र एवं गरुड़ में घोर संग्राम हुआ और गौ लोक में भी गरुड़ जी गौओं से युद्ध किया।
गरुड़ की चोंच की चोट से उनके कान एवं पूंछ कटकर गिरने लगे जिससे तीन वस्तुएँ उत्पन्न हुई। कान से तम्बाकू, पूँछ से गोभी और रक्त से मेहंदी बनी। इन तीनों का प्रयोग करने वाले को मोक्ष नहीं मिलता।
तब गौओं ने भी क्रोधित होकर गरुड़ पर वार किया जिससे उनके तीन पंख टूटकर गिर गये। इनके पहले पंख से नीलकण्ठ, दूसरे से मोर और तीसरे से चकवा-चकवी उत्पन्न हुए। हे प्रिये! इन तीनों का दर्शन करने मात्र से ही शुभ फल प्राप्त हो जाता है।’
यह सुनकर सत्यभामा ने कहा–‘हे प्रभो! कृपया मुझे मेरे पूर्व जन्मों के विषय में बताइए कि मैंने पूर्व जन्म में कौन-कौन से दान, व्रत व जप नहीं किए हैं। मेरा स्वभाव कैसा था, मेरे जन्मदाता कौन थे और मुझे मृत्युलोक में जन्म क्यों लेना पड़ा। मैंने ऐसा कौन सा पुण्य कर्म किया था जिससे मैं आपकी अर्द्धांगिनी हुई ?’
श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा–‘हे प्रिये! अब मै तुम्हारे द्वारा पूर्व जन्म में किये गये पुण्य कर्मों को विस्तार पूर्वक कहता हूँ, उसे सुनो।
पूर्व समय में सतयुग के अन्त में मायापुरी में अत्रिगोत्र में वेद-वेदान्त का ज्ञाता देवशर्मा नामक एक ब्राह्मण निवास करता था। वह प्रतिदिन अतिथियों की सेवा, हवन और सूर्य भगवान का पूजन किया करता था। वह सूर्य के समान तेजस्वी था।
वृद्धावस्था में उसे गुणवती नामक कन्या की प्राप्ति हुई। उस पुत्रहीन ब्राह्मण ने अपनी कन्या का विवाह अपने ही चन्द्र नामक शिष्य के साथ कर दिया। वह चन्द्र को अपने पुत्र के समान मानता था और चन्द्र भी उसे अपने पिता की भाँति सम्मान देता था।
एक दिन वे दोनों कुश व समिधा लेने के लिए जंगल में गये। जब वे हिमालय की तलहटी में भ्रमण कर रहे थे, तब उन्हें एक राक्षस आता हुआ दिखाई दिया। उस राक्षस को देखकर भय के कारण उनके अंग शिथिल हो गये और वे वहाँ से भागने में भी असमर्थ हो गये।
तब उस काल के समान राक्षस ने उन दोनों को मार डाला। चूंकि वे धर्मात्मा थे इसलिए मेरे पार्षद उन्हें मेरे वैकुण्ठ धाम में मेरे पास ले आये। उन दोनों द्वारा आजीवन सूर्य भगवान की पूजा किये जाने के कारण मैं दोनों पर अति प्रसन्न हुआ।
गणेश जी, शिवजी, सूर्य व देवी–इन सबकी पूजा करने वाले मनुष्य को स्वर्ग की प्राप्ति होती है। मैं एक होता हुआ भी काल और कर्मों के भेद से पांच प्रकार का होता हूँ। जैसे–एक देवदत्त, पिता, भ्राता, आदि नामों से पुकारा जाता है।
जब वे दोनों विमान पर आरुढ़ होकर सूर्य के समान तेजस्वी, रूपवान, चन्दन की माला धारण किये हुए मेरे भवन में आये तो वे दिव्य भोगों को भोगने लगे।

🔹पापांकुशा एकादशी – 14 अक्टूबर 2024🔹

🔹एकादशी में क्या करें, क्या न करें ?🔹

🌹1. एकादशी को लकड़ी का दातुन तथा पेस्ट का उपयोग न करें । नींबू, जामुन या आम के पत्ते लेकर चबा लें और उँगली से कंठ शुद्ध कर लें । वृक्ष से पत्ता तोड़ना भी वर्जित है, अत: स्वयं गिरे हुए पत्ते का सेवन करें ।

🌹2. स्नानादि कर के गीता पाठ करें, श्री विष्णुसहस्रनाम का पाठ करें ।

🌹हर एकादशी को श्री विष्णुसहस्रनाम का पाठ करने से घर में सुख-शांति बनी रहती है ।
राम रामेति रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे ।
सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने ।।

एकादशी के दिन इस मंत्र के पाठ से श्री विष्णुसहस्रनाम के जप के समान पुण्य प्राप्त होता है l

🌹3. `ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय’ इस द्वादश अक्षर मंत्र अथवा गुरुमंत्र का जप करना चाहिए ।

🌹4. चोर, पाखण्डी और दुराचारी मनुष्य से बात नहीं करना चाहिए, यथा संभव मौन रहें ।

🌹5. एकादशी के दिन भूल कर भी चावल नहीं खाना चाहिए न ही किसी को खिलाना चाहिए । इस दिन फलाहार अथवा घर में निकाला हुआ फल का रस अथवा दूध या जल पर रहना लाभदायक है ।

🌹6. व्रत के (दशमी, एकादशी और द्वादशी) – इन तीन दिनों में काँसे के बर्तन, मांस, प्याज, लहसुन, मसूर, उड़द, चने, कोदो (एक प्रकार का धान), शाक, शहद, तेल और अत्यम्बुपान (अधिक जल का सेवन) – इनका सेवन न करें ।

🌹7. फलाहारी को गोभी, गाजर, शलजम, पालक, कुलफा का साग इत्यादि सेवन नहीं करना चाहिए । आम, अंगूर, केला, बादाम, पिस्ता इत्यादि अमृत फलों का सेवन करना चाहिए ।

🌹8. जुआ, निद्रा, पान, परायी निन्दा, चुगली, चोरी, हिंसा, मैथुन, क्रोध तथा झूठ, कपटादि अन्य कुकर्मों से नितान्त दूर रहना चाहिए ।

🌹9. भूलवश किसी निन्दक से बात हो जाय तो इस दोष को दूर करने के लिए भगवान सूर्य के दर्शन तथा धूप-दीप से श्रीहरि की पूजा कर क्षमा माँग लेनी चाहिए ।

🌹10. एकादशी के दिन घर में झाडू नहीं लगायें । इससे चींटी आदि सूक्ष्म जीवों की मृत्यु का भय रहता है ।

🌹11. इस दिन बाल नहीं कटायें ।

🌹12. इस दिन यथाशक्ति अन्नदान करें किन्तु स्वयं किसीका दिया हुआ अन्न कदापि ग्रहण न करें ।

🌹13. एकादशी की रात में भगवान विष्णु के आगे जागरण करना चाहिए (जागरण रात्र 1 बजे तक) ।

🌹14. जो श्रीहरि के समीप जागरण करते समय रात में दीपक जलाता है, उसका पुण्य सौ कल्पों में भी नष्ट नहीं होता है ।

🔹 इस विधि से व्रत करनेवाला उत्तम फल को प्राप्त करता है ।

आज का सुविचार

आपके पास जो कुछ भी है है उसे बढ़ा-चढ़ा कर मत बताइए, और ना ही दूसरों से इर्ष्या कीजिये, जो दूसरों से इर्ष्या करता है उसे मन की शांति नहीं मिलती॥
